JOB SUMMARY

The Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) is responsible for designing, executing and interpreting research projects related to the development of regulatory T cell (Treg) therapies for autoimmune disease and transplantation. Research opportunities will span the entire translational pipeline—from fundamental discoveries in Treg biology and synthetic immunology to manufacturing and first-in-human clinical trials. The goal is to develop precise, durable Treg therapies that restore immune tolerance and replace lifelong immunosuppression.

ORGANIZATIONAL STATUS

The UBC Faculty of Medicine Department of Surgery educates students at the undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate levels, and pursues research to make innovative advancements in knowledge and practice to improve health. The Department consists of more than 600 physicians, surgeons, scientists and educators and over 60 administrative, research and technical staff in nine divisions distributed across British Columbia. Specialty training programs are offered in Cardiac Surgery, General Surgery, Colorectal Surgery, Neurosurgery, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Plastic Surgery, Radiation Oncology, Thoracic Surgery and Vascular Surgery.

The Department is also home to the Branch for Global Surgical Care.

The PDF reports directly to the Principal Investigator, Dr. Megan Levings. The incumbent liaises with faculty members, research technicians and trainees in the Levings lab and interacts with collaborators at the BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, UBC and around the world.
