SUMMARY
The Overhead Doors & Docks Technician is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on commercial doors for multiple facilities.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs work in accordance to established processes and practicesComplies with all internal and external requirements including but not limited to environmental, health and safety, fire protectionConducts regular inspection and preventative maintenance on commercial doors and related hardwareProvides observations on conditions and deficiencies and suggestions for enhancements and repairResponds to routine and on-demand service requestsTroubleshoots and resolves commercial door and related hardware issuesRepairs, replaces and installs door hardware componentsRecords resolution data applicable logs/service maintenance management database. Ensures work completed meets quality and contract response, and all other requirementsReceives, tracks, monitors and reports status of maintenance work within applicable logs/service maintenance management database. Initiates documents to obtain formal approval of work requiredEnsures the manner in which work is performed is in compliant with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices and guidelines related to environmental, health and safety, and any other applicable requirementsMaintains all assigned tools and arranges for repair and replacement where requiredOther duties as assignedWork Requirements
Must be able to be on-call and be available to respond to emergenciesMust be willing to wear personal protective equipmentEDUCATION, JOB-RELATED YEARS OF EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION: High school education

EXPERIENCE:
More than three years up to five years
Knowledge & Skills
3 to 5 years of commercial door maintenance and repair work experienceHigh school diploma plus trades training and certification, an assetAbility to adhere and to properly execute to processes and practicesAbility to maintain and repair mechanical and electrical systems relating to doors and door hardware componentsStrong troubleshooting and resolution skills in order to resolve commercial door issuesPossesses a strong environmental, health and safety mindset. Ability to perform work in a safe mannerStrong client-service orientation with a high sense of urgencyEffective communication skills for the purpose of data relay, exchange, feedback, and clarificationLicenses and/or Professional Accreditation
Canadian Door Institute Certification, an assetThis is a regular, full-time position with a union hourly rate of $38.10.
