Job SummaryUnder the direction of Head or designate performs unskilled and semi-skilled duties on building mechanical systems.
Organizational StatusReports to the Head Maintenance Engineer.
Work Performed- Check HVAC filters and ordering of replacements.
- Perform filter changes, including delivery of new filters and disposal of old filters, cleaning of plenums and coils.
- Through visual checks reports to Head or designate any maintenance and operations concerns that may have been observed.
- Assist Mechanical Trades as directed.
- Drives vehicles and delivers materials as required.
- General cleaning of Shops and Mechanical Facilities as directed.
- Wipes down mechanical equipment.
- May be required to perform other duties as related to the qualifications and requirements of the classification.
Close attention is required to prevent service failures which could temporarily result in curtailment of all ventilation systems on campus.

Minimum Qualifications- Minimum of two (2) years of recent experience with building mechanical systems.
- Grade 12 graduation.
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s license.
- Willingness to respect diverse perspectives, including perspectives in conflict with one’s own.
- Demonstrates a commitment to enhancing one’s own awareness, knowledge, and skills related to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Working knowledge of WHMIS, WCB safety standards.
- Working knowledge of tools associated with building mechanical systems.
- Physical ability to perform work. Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to operate related equipment. Ability to organize the work.
- Ability to work with minimum supervision.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and skill in use of hand tools.
