Technician - Security

Overview

As a Technician I - Security with Bosch Building Technologies, you will assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of security systems. You’ll work with experienced technicians to gain hands-on experience with low voltage access control systems, CCTV setups, and prewiring projects.

• Assist in system design and layout
• Install, terminate, and test copper and fiber optic cables, connectors, and related components
• Assist in installing and servicing electronic security systems, including pre-wiring, programming, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of access control, CCTV, and intrusion alarm systems
• Provide customer training and respond to technical inquiries
• Relationship building with clients and prospects for future opportunities
• Administrative duties including project updates to Project Managers, completing and filing all project documentation
• You may be required to work “night shifts” when needed based on project/service requirements
• Perform other tasks as required

• 1-3 years of experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry
• Proficiency in cable pulling, installation, and basic troubleshooting
• Experience with security systems, CCTV, and alarms
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with customers and team members
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract
• Able to work independently

• Prior experience in a technical role within the integrated security industry
• Post secondary training in electronics or equivalent is considered an asset
• Basic knowledge of low voltage systems, CCTV, and prewiring is desirable but not required

• Proper hand and power tool operations and safety
• Ability to solve practical problems and carry out responsibilities under minimal supervision
• Ability to organize workload for effective implementation
• Ability to complete projects on time and on budget
• Ability to write simple correspondence and present information in one-on-one and small group situations
• Ability to interact effectively at all levels and across diverse cultures
• Ability to function as an effective team member
• Ability to adapt as the external environment and organization evolves

• Regularly stand, climb, walk, sit, push, pull, squat, crawl, and stoop
• Use hands to finger, handle, feel objects, and type on keyboard; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear
• Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
• Use of power tools required; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
• May be required to work at heights over 1.8m (6 feet)

• Exposed to outdoor weather conditions, work on job sites, may travel to and from job site locations
