Do you have training or experience as a heavy equipment or diesel mechanic? Join VIA Rail and help ensure the reliability and safety of our national passenger rail fleet.

• Hourly wage: $38.49 to $46.43 per hour
• Shift premiums: evening $1.50 per hour, night $2.00 per hour
• Comprehensive benefits (medical and dental) and pension plan
• Travel pass after one year of service
• Uniforms and equipment provided (boots, safety glasses, helmet, gloves)

• 5 personal days and up to 10 sick days

• Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on locomotives
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic failures
• Use maintenance procedures, technical manuals, and tools to ensure safe and reliable operations
• Ensure all work complies with maintenance programs and rail safety standards
• Meet and exceed Transport Canada regulatory requirements

• A vocational diploma in heavy duty mechanics, diesel mechanics, automotive mechanics
• Experience with diesel and/or internal combustion engines
• Experience and/or certification in heavy rail equipment repair
  
  Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
• Journeyperson certification or Red Seal is an asset

• Permanent position (40 hours per week)
• Variable schedule (days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays)
• Overtime available
