Are you a HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic interested in a role that directly supports the delivery of care, ensuring critical heating, cooling, ventilation and refrigeration systems are always operational when they're needed most?
As a HVAC/Refrigeration Mechanic at the state-of-the-art new St. Paul’s Hospital opening in Vancouver in 2027, you'll play a critical role in maintaining the complex environmental systems that help keep a high-performing healthcare facility safe, comfortable and efficient for patients, staff and visitors.
This includes:
Install, repair and maintain heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems across a large, dynamic hospital environment
Perform preventative maintenance to ensure HVAC/R systems operate reliably and meet strict healthcare, safety and regulatory standards
Troubleshoot and repair air handling units, compressors, pumps, fans, motors, controls and refrigeration equipment
Operate and program Building Automation Systems (BAS) to optimize system performance and efficiency
Perform air balancing tests and system inspections to maintain proper airflow and environmental conditions
Work closely with other skilled trades and Facilities teams to support day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure projects
Contribute to a safe, comfortable and functional environment that supports patient care, staff and the broader community

What You Bring

Education and Experience:

Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a Journeyperson Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Mechanic or equivalent trade
Class “B” Gas Fitter’s License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of BC.
Two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
