As we continue to grow as British Columbia’s leading utility construction provider, we are seeking experienced Equipment Operators to support our civil utility projects in urban environments.
This role involves operating heavy equipment on roadways in active city environments, often around live utilities, and includes work on gas distribution systems, hydro duct banks, and district energy infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Safely operate heavy equipment such as excavators, and back hoesPerform precision trenching and excavation around live utilitiesInstall and work around shoring systems to ensure trench safetySupport installation of underground utility infrastructure, including:Gas distribution linesHydro duct banksDistrict energy systemsAssist with site preparation, material handling, and cleanupWork collaboratively with labourers and spotters to maintain safety and efficiencyConduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs.Requirements and Experience
Minimum 3–5 years of experience operating heavy equipment in civil or utility constructionProven experience working around live utilities and in roadway environmentsFamiliarity with shoring systems, trench boxes, and confined space protocolsExperience with gas, hydro, and district energy utility installations is a strong assetAbility to read grade plans and use grade stakesStrong safety awareness and ability to follow verbal and hand signal directionsPhysically fit, with the ability to lift up to 25kg and work in all weather conditionsWillingness to work extended hours and adapt to changing site conditionsValid driver’s license and clean abstract requiredMUST be fluent in English, both written and verbal.Project: WBK Duct Bank
