Equipment Operator

We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our growing team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support excavation, utility installation, site preparation, grading, and pipe installation projects. The ideal candidate has experience working around underground utilities and in confined spaces, can work independently with minimal supervision, and takes pride in producing quality work.

Salary: $35.00-$45.00 per hour

We are seeking a skilled, dependable, and safety-focused Equipment Operator to join our growing team. The Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment safely and efficiently to support excavation, utility installation, site preparation, grading, and pipe installation projects. The ideal candidate has experience working around underground utilities and in confined spaces, can work independently with minimal supervision, and takes pride in producing quality work.

• Safely operate heavy equipment such as large or small excavators, skid steers, rollers, and other equipment as assigned.
• Excavate, trench, backfill, grade, and prepare sites according to project specifications.
• Work safely around existing underground utilities while following utility locate procedures and company safety standards.
• Install water, sewer, and storm piping, including experience laying pipe to proper grade and alignment.
• Work confidently and safely in tight or confined work areas while maintaining awareness of surrounding personnel, structures, and utilities.
• Read and interpret basic construction drawings, utility plans, and grade information.
• Use laser levels and grade lasers to achieve accurate elevations and grades (experience with laser-guided work is preferred).
• Perform daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.
• Report equipment defects or maintenance issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area.
• Work independently or as part of a crew to complete projects efficiently and on schedule.
• Assist with general labour duties when required.
• Follow all company policies and safety procedures.

• Previous experience operating heavy equipment in civil construction, excavation, or utility installation.
• Proven experience working around underground utilities.
• Experience laying water, sewer, and storm pipe.
• Basic knowledge of construction drawings and utility plans.
• Ability to work safely in tight spaces with heavy equipment.
• Experience using laser levels for grading and excavation is preferred.
• Strong understanding of safe excavation practices.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining productivity and quality.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Reliable, dependable, and committed to safety.

• Valid driver s licence.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to work overtime or weekends as required by project schedules.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
• Willingness to work in different areas such as Vancouver, Burnaby, Surrey, Langley, Abbotsford.
