Compensation:
Salary starting at $55,000 per year, plus eligible benefits, in accordance with experience and internal equity.
Primary duty is to set up and release shipments imported into Canada across various modes of transportation containing a wide variety of commodities, paying close attention to the rules and regulations as set out by CBSA in the Customs Act.
Key Duties and Responsibilities- Set up and release of assigned account shipments
- Able to manage more complex shipments, with some assistance
- Track and trace incoming shipments and communicating with clients as required
- Provide final accounting to CBSA for a set list of assigned accounts
- Arrange payments of invoices to steamship lines, warehouses, government agencies
- Arrange transportation of cargo once released, and maintain trucker relationships to maximize partnerships
- Identify tasks that require special handling, recommend process improvements, and implement resolutions within assigned scope of responsibility
- Adhere to all Standard Operating Procedures and Policies set in place by the department and organization
- Provide input and be an active participant at weekly team briefings
- Supports organizational commitment to ISO 9001, ISO 45001 certification – Montreal location
- Perform assigned tasks to support DSV meets its objectives and targets regarding quality, health, safety and environment and follow all requirements as set out in the DSV Quality Health Safety Environment policy.
- Staff are required to ensure that their day‑to‑day activities embrace sustainability, health and safety thereby reducing the impact upon the environment, supporting the communities we work in and reducing incidents in the workplace.
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent qualification
- Working towards Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) Designation
- 3–5 years of freight forwarding and/or customs brokerage experience
- Good command, both verbal and written, English skills.
- Ability to create collaborative engagements and active listening
- Service oriented and able to resolve customer grievances
- Strong interpersonal skills, building professional relationships internally and externally
- Strong problem‑solving skills and analytical skills
- Ability to multi‑task, plan, prioritize and manage time effectively to meet goals and achieve results

- Ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment.

- English is the principal language for this position, additional languages may be required in other locations.
