Senior Controller​/Financial Controller

We are a growing trucking and auto transport company seeking an experienced Controller to take full ownership of our accounting and financial operations.

This is not a bookkeeping position.

We need a decisive financial leader who can maintain control of the numbers, identify issues before they become problems, hold the accounting function accountable, and provide ownership with a clear, accurate understanding of the company’s financial performance.

• Direct and oversee all company accounting operations
• Prepare and analyze P&L statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports
• Manage accounts receivable, accounts payable, collections, and cash flow
• Oversee payroll and driver settlements
• Develop budgets, forecasts, and financial plans
• Analyze profitability by truck and operating unit
• Monitor revenue and cost per mile
• Analyze fuel, maintenance, insurance, and other operating expenses
• Manage equipment loans, depreciation, and fixed assets
• Establish accounting controls and oversee fraud prevention, error detection, and expense audits
• Lead, manage, and improve accounting staff and processes
• Coordinate with the CPA, banks, lenders, and company leadership
• Deliver accurate weekly and monthly financial reporting to ownership

• 3+ years of accounting or finance experience
• Prior experience as a Controller, Accounting Manager, or comparable financial leader
• Experience managing finances for a multi-million-dollar operation
• Trucking, transportation, or fleet-management experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency with Quick Books or comparable accounting software and Excel
• Strong knowledge of cash flow management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Demonstrated ability to build effective systems and processes—not simply follow existing procedures
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• CPA or CMA designation is a plus

We are seeking a financial leader—not a data-entry bookkeeper.

You must be able to provide ownership with clear, timely answers to questions such as:

Where is the company making money?

Where is the company losing money?

Which trucks and operating units are profitable?

Why have expenses increased?

What corrective actions are required?

What will our cash position look like 30 to 90 days from now?

Candidates with only basic bookkeeping experience will not be considered for this role.
