-The takeoff specialist will be taking the material list, performing the takeoffs, then returning the quote totaling around 80 takeoffs a week
-Not responsible for creating the material lists
-Using tools like Acrobat and On-suite
-Creating takeoffs for Stick framed and lumber materials
Structural elements:
Lumber, building materials, framing, wood - very early on
- Working off of a set of plans/documents/blueprints to do a takeoff set to calculate all the materials that will go into a new home build or remodel
- Calculating how much wood, sheeting, flooring systems will go into a new build or remodel
- Review project plans and specifications to understand scope and requirements.
- Input data into estimating software to perform digital takeoffs and generate cost breakdowns.
- Calculate material, labor, and subcontractor costs using up-to-date pricing databases.
- Collaborate with architects, project managers, and suppliers to validate assumptions and gather quotes.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for internal teams or clients.
- Revise estimates based on design changes, feedback, or updated pricing.
- Maintain accurate records and reports for budgeting and forecasting.
- Experience doing "takeoffs" to calculate all of the materials and costs that go into a new build (commercial & residential)
- 2+ years working with CAD or BIM
- 2+ years of experience in residential construction estimating, preferably in both new builds and remodels.
- Proven experience using estimating software such as STACK, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Plan Swift, Knowify, Sage Construction Suite, Buildxact etc.
- Familiarity with reading and interpreting architectural drawings, blueprints, and construction documents.
- Proficient in digital takeoffs and cost modeling to determine the materials and costs that will go into new builds for residential single family and multifamily homes as well as commercial remodel/new construction.
- Strong understanding of construction materials, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel and project management tools.
This role can pay between $35-45/hr based on years of experience in Lumber / Building Materials takeoffs and estimating.
