6.5 Hours Per Day (7:40 a.m.

- 2:40 p.m. includes 30 minute unpaid lunch) Regular Days and Designated Full Wednesdays

4.5 Hours Per Day (7:40 a.m.

- 12:10 p.m.) Wednesdays and Middle School Early-Release Days

190 days per year (180 student days/10 holidays)

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/18/25.

This position is expected to begin August 26, 2025.

Must meet Para educator Employment Requirements as follows*:

* Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent; AND

* Must meet one or more of the following:

* Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service Para Pro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS); or

* Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university; or

* Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university; or

* Have completed a Para educator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

* If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.

Upon hire, new para educators will be required to complete state required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Salary Placement:
New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

SUMMARY STATEMENT:

Under the supervision of the Special Education Teacher and the Principal, the Special Education Para educator will assist in the supervision of student behavior and instructional activities, working closely with students on an individual, as well as small group basis.

* Washington State Core Competencies should be completed within three years of hire.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Assist the Special Education classroom teacher in supervising and working with elementary and/or secondary students as follows:

* Monitor students at all times.

* Communicate effectively with students, staff and parents.

* De-escalation of students in crisis.
