Clark College is currently accepting applications for a full-time Tenure-track Professor in Early Childhood Education. Department and college service work is expected with the position (as assigned by the division or college) to support the institutional mission and goals, foremost being student success and retention. This position begins on September 14, 2026.
The successful candidate will join current faculty in the Early Childhood Education (ECE) program that enjoys a long and rich history of serving the early learning workforce needs in Southwest Washington. Clark College offers a variety of educational pathways including state stackable ECE certificates, an Associate of Applied Science degree in ECE, the ECE Department Program provides hands-on training in the Child and Family Studies Program located on campus, partners with early childhood programs in a variety of care facilities in the service area.
The program will develop candidates who are skilled in supporting the learning needs and development of children birth to third grade leading with equity-rooted pedagogy, cultural responsiveness and with the ability to meet the needs of each and every child as an individual and as a member of their familial and social community. This position will be responsible for advising ECE students and teaching multiple early childhood education courses in a variety of instructional methods both on-line and face-to-face.

Position ResponsibilitiesFACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Instruct all classes as an expert in the discipline using active learning approaches that both engage and facilitate student learning.
- Advise and assist students in their educational and career development.
- Strive to enhance teaching and learning techniques.
- Pursue professional development to stay current in the field.
- Obtain and maintain Professional-Technical Certification requirements.
- Participate in program, curriculum development and assessment activities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, businesses, advisory committees, and other educational partners to create unique learning opportunities at Clark College.
- Participate in decision-making processes by taking part in department and college committees.
- Work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
- Understand and commit to the mission of Clark College.
- Work cooperatively in a variety of department-level activities and college or company-wide projects.
- Pursue professional development to enhance teaching and learning in the department and College.
POSITION SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Teach Early Childhood Education courses grounded in developmental theory and teaching methodologies.
- Work with faculty, administration and partnerships to promote the ECE program.
- Respond to teaching and learning practices using data, assessment and analysis.
- Demonstrate Power, Privilege, Inequity knowledge and competence and affirm commitment to equity and diversity in the learning environment.
- Build professional relationships with mentor teachers, and other personnel.
- Participate on the advisory board.
- Use a variety of active teaching strategies using disciplinary knowledge, diverse theories, issues, and trends in early learning.
- Analyze course assessments, evaluation, and data engaging in continuous improvement of courses with a focus on retention and completion.
- Build relationships with students through advising, teaching, and mentoring from recruitment through completion.
- Ability to bring relevance from teaching children to adult teaching environments.
- Knowledge of adult learning theories.
- Knowledge of and commitment to inclusivity, and cultural responsiveness.
- Knowledge and application of current ECE theories and practices.
- Knowledge and application of coaching and mentoring skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES:
- Master's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or Education with emphasis on Early Childhood.
- Three (3) years of classroom teaching experience with children ages 2 to 8 years.
- Experience with learning and information technologies including teaching experience on Canvas Online Learning platform.
