REPORTS TO: Building Principal/Transportation Supervisor
DEPARTMENT: Elementary
Hours / Work Times:
- .33 Hours Per Day (7:30 a.m.
- 7:40 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.
- 2:40 p.m.) - .33 Hours on Early-Release Days (7:30 a.m.
- 7:40 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
- 12:40 p.m.)
Days/Year: 190 Days Per Year (180 student days / 10 holidays)
Bus-duty hours/days are contingent on student transportation needs.
This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 07/25/25.

SummarySUMMARY STATEMENT: Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, the bus assistant for Special Education students rides on the bus and assists the bus driver during home-to-school runs, emergencies, evacuations, and in completing necessary paperwork.
Essential Functions- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Assist the bus driver in loading and unloading wheelchair-bound students on and off the bus.
- Assist the bus driver in establishing and maintaining a positive climate during transport.
- Act quickly and be aware of surroundings to ensure student safety.
- Complete daily individual student behavior management forms and submit to supervisor.
- Implement and monitor student behavioral management plans per IEP.
- Attend conferences with administrators, parents, and students when necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Vision (66-100%), Hearing (66-100%), Speaking (66-100%), Writing (Up to 33%), etc.
- Standing, walking, lifting up to 75 lbs. with assistance; exposure to blood borne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials.
