Clark College is currently accepting applications for a part-time, permanent classified, cyclic Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 1 position to work approximately 17 hours a week. This position supports Tutoring Services. The work schedule for this position is in person, Monday through Friday, up to 17 hours per week. Assigned work hours are primarily during instructional days, when courses are in session.
There will be no scheduled work hours during Instructional breaks. This position is not eligible for benefits.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Tutor Clark students in specified courses with emphasis on content as well as general study/technology/organization/test-taking/goal-setting skills and techniques.
* Ability to converse knowledgeably/fluently in the subject areas, such as English or math, and/or language.
* Provide tutoring in remote (Zoom), in-person, individual, and group tutoring formats and modalities as assigned.
* Provide mentoring and support to peer, volunteer, and student employees.
* Attend all required trainings and professional development as requested and required by applicable laws and program expectations.
* Support Level 1 Certification activities and training of new employees.
* Perform related duties as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND
COMPETENCIES:
Candidates will be evaluated based on application materials, including the supplemental questions and personal interview(s), and will be required to demonstrate competencies in the following areas:
* Associate's degree AND two (2) years of relevant tutoring/teaching experience OR equivalent related work experience.
* Evidence of success in subject area(s) and ability to provide documentation, such as a transcript.
* Have participated/completed Level 1 CRLA Certification or do so within first quarter of employment.

* Ability to use effective questioning techniques to assist students in understanding course content; ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations; patience, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Demonstrated capacity to take on more responsibility, setting the tone in the workplace, and being a role model for students and other tutoring staff.
* Willingness to assist other student tutors with tutoring skills and strategies and provide mentorship.
* Ability to work well with people of all ages from academically, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds.
* Prior to a new hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted which includes a sexual misconduct background check as required under RCW 28B.112.080. Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicant's suitability and competence to perform in the position.
SALARY/BENEFITS:
Salary Range: $19.50-$25.96/hour | Step A-M (commensurate with qualifications and experience) | Range: 39 | Code: 255N
Successful candidates typically start at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases.
