Job OverviewOur Lady of Lourdes Catholic School in Vancouver, WA is seeking a Kindergarten teacher for the school year. This candidate must be proficient and qualified to deliver instruction including Washington State and Common Core Kindergarten standards as well as age‑appropriate Archdiocesan Religion standards. The Kindergarten Teacher will collaborate with the other Kindergarten teacher, the primary team, and the rest of the school staff, as well as the broader school and parish community, to fulfill the mission of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic School: fostering faith‑filled students, lifelong learners, and good citizens.

This candidate must be committed to teaching the Catholic faith and providing all students with an equitable and inclusive education in a community that celebrates its diversity. Applicants should be passionate about Catholic education, comfortable using educational technology, able to differentiate instruction, and use formal and informal assessments as an integral part of curriculum planning. Candidates must hold or pursue a current Washington State teaching certificate endorsed in Elementary Education.
Preference will be given to candidates with successful teaching experience.
- Have a strong knowledge of Washington State and Common Core Kindergarten standards as well as age‑appropriate Archdiocesan Religion standards
- Bring commitment to Catholic education and a passion for teaching it
- Show ability to develop lesson plans and supplementary material including multi‑level lessons to engage differentiated learning groups
- Use instructional technology effectively, including interactive whiteboards, document cameras, and Google Apps for Education
- Integrate modern technologies, media and other tools into instruction
- Desire to work collaboratively with the teaching team on behalf of students, seeking ideas, feedback or advice of colleagues
- Act as a role model, helping students feel motivated and following the school's Mission and School Wide Learning Expectations
- Maintain and establish standards of student behavior through relationship building, positive reinforcement and support
- Create and maintain a positive classroom environment
- Teach and develop age‑appropriate strategies to resolve conflict
- Evaluate and document academic and social growth of students, and maintain required records
- Communicate regularly and thoroughly with families
- Supervise and monitor students in class and during transitions
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Recognize that regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job
- Engage learners in a positive, nurturing learning environment
- Understand essential learning standards
- Use summative and formative assessments to drive instruction and differentiation
- Use technology as a tool to enhance curriculum, collaboration, and creative thinking skills
- Participate as an energetic, empathetic, and innovative team member

- Work with students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and academic needs
- Have knowledge and skills to develop positive interpersonal relationships and best practices approach to learning and instruction
- Show good organization and management skills
- Collaborate with colleagues, including team teaching, professional learning communities, and Response to Intervention process
- Commit to understanding students' developmental needs
- Bachelor's degree or above in Elementary Education or equivalent academic background
- Washington state certification, or equivalent
- Commitment to ongoing professional growth
- Successful background check and completed VIRTUS Safe Environment Training in compliance with Archdiocesan requirements
- Experience in standards‑based instruction and assessment
- This position will be compensated at a salaried rate starting at approximately $48,800 as determined by internal equity, internal salary ranges, market data, applicant's skills and prior relevant experience, degrees, and certifications.
