FTE: 1.0

Leave Replacement – one year only for the 2026–2027 school year. This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected.

Responsibilities
  • Participate as a member of the Building Assessment Team.
  • Assess and evaluate students to determine eligibility and areas of service/need.
  • Develop, implement and monitor Individualized Education Plans, behavioral intervention plans and age‑appropriate transition plans.
  • Provide specially designed instruction, support and related services including accommodations and modifications of general education curriculum.
  • Implement instructional methods and materials using technology and assistive technologies.
  • Guide learning toward curriculum student outcomes.
  • Co‑plan, develop and implement courses to meet student needs in all curriculum areas.
  • Supervise, schedule and train paraprofessionals.
  • Create a safe and conducive classroom environment for all students.
  • Confer with colleagues, administrators, students and parents.
  • Develop techniques for improving student behavior and academic progress.
  • Participate in state, federal and district testing requirements.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, confidential and timely records as required by law and district policy.
  • Uphold enforcement of school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude as a faculty member.
  • Perform assigned out‑of‑classroom supervision and related duties.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning events, grade‑level/department/PLC meetings.
  • Participate in school building programs such as assemblies and other student activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Oversee general management of students’ health and physical needs.
  • Implement services focused on students’ hygiene, health and basic needs.
Qualifications
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and a valid Washington State teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement.
  • Completion of Washington State Patrol background check (employee responsible for cost).
  • Understanding of current state and federal laws pertaining to education of students with disabilities.
  • Flexible, communicative, professionally oriented, and willing to participate in a team environment.
  • Regular and consistent attendance.
  • Physical capability to respond to students to maintain a safe environment.
  • Willingness to uphold district policies and follow administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of curriculum integration and commitment to improve instructional and management skills through professional development.
  • Knowledge of research‑based instructional strategies, technology integration and classroom management techniques.
  • Compatibility with staff, program and school goals.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive attitude with students and adults.
  • Awareness, appreciation and respect of diversity among students and adults.
  • Decision‑making skills with the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students.
  • Preferred experience:

    Workshop Model of Instruction, teaching at the designated grade level, working with at‑risk or economically diverse populations, use of assistive technology, behavior intervention techniques, DE‑EScalation, IEP‑Online system, TEACCH, ABA, visual systems/learning, social skills instruction, PECS.
