Job Title

Neighborhood Schools Outreach Coach (NSOC) – Hollingsworth Academy, Vancouver, WA

Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Services and the Principal, the NSOC provides direct and collaborative support for students transitioning from Hollingsworth Academy to their neighborhood schools. This includes instruction support, data collection, behavior intervention, assessment, and coordination with clinical staff and classroom teachers.

Essential Functions
  • Perform tasks assigned by the Principal, Clinical Psychologist, and BCBA.
  • Assist teachers with classroom instruction and support students during instructional activities.
  • Implement, assess, and evaluate student intervention plans and programs.
  • Develop relationships and communicate effectively with a diverse student population.
  • Communicate with staff, students, parents, and community about factors impacting student performance in accordance with district policies.
  • Measure and collect data; maintain accurate records of student performance and progress at Hollingsworth and comprehensive schools.
  • Summarize and report behavior data to administrators promptly and accurately.
  • Collaborate with Federal Programs to ensure compliant LAP enrollment and reporting procedures.
  • Focus on student skill acquisition related to accessing comprehensive school settings.
  • Demonstrate competency in intervention and crisis response strategies.
  • Implement evidence‑based intervention practices and restorative interventions.
  • Monitor student behavior inside and outside the comprehensive school setting.
  • Enter and update student information in relevant computer programs.
  • Perform routine mathematical calculations and interpret instructional documentation.
  • Prepare simple memos, letters, and correspondence as directed.
  • Problem‑solve with students on an ongoing basis.
  • Provide classroom support as directed by administration.
  • Set clear, consistent expectations for student behavior.
  • Attend training sessions to maintain current knowledge of behavioral intervention and related meetings.
  • Demonstrate ethical professional conduct and scope of practice.
  • Attend transition meetings with comprehensive schools and Hollingsworth.
  • Communicate with transportation regarding student plans and time at comprehensive schools.
  • Collaborate with PLC team and Transition RBT as directed.
Other Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • AA or BA in Education, Psychology, or five (5) years of experience working with students with behavioral or mental health issues (preferred).
  • Demonstrated ability to problem‑solve with students exhibiting behavioral and mental health challenges.
  • Training and/or experience in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques.
  • Training and/or experience in positive behavior support implementation.
  • Training and/or experience in Collaborative Problem Solving (preferred).
  • Training in Restorative Practices.
  • Basic typing, keyboarding, and math skills.
  • Ability to communicate, monitor, supervise, and manage difficult students and promote their success.
  • Effective communication with staff and families.
  • Flexibility, initiative, and cooperativeness.
  • Physical capability to respond to aggressive student behavior.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Ability to work under constant interruptions and perform under pressure.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and regulations related to special education.
