Position: Intervention Para educator (9900 FedP)

Intervention Para educator

Location:

Cascade Middle School, Vancouver, Washington.

Reports to:

Instructor/Building Principal.

Employment Requirements:
Must meet the Para educator Employment Requirements:
• at least 18 years old with high school diploma or equivalent;
• one of the following:
• passing score of 455 or higher on ETS Para Pro Assessment;
• associate degree or higher from accredited institution;
• 72 quarter or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher from accredited institution;
• completed Para educator Apprenticeship Program registered with Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council. All applicants who do not meet these requirements will be screened out.

Upon hire, new para educators are required to complete state‑required training offered through Evergreen School District.

SUMMARY STATEMENT

Under the supervision of the building principal, the Intervention Para educator assists in the delivery of instructional activities, working closely with students on an individual and small‑group basis. The role supports administrators, teachers, and counselors in a tutoring program to help students achieve academic and behavioral success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Communicate effectively with students.
  • Assist in providing one‑to‑one and group instruction according to instructional goals.
  • Help establish and maintain a learning environment that accelerates academic and social‑emotional learning.
  • Use student‑centered instruction principles to support academic and social outcomes.
  • Apply foundational academic and social‑emotional concepts to provide effective student support.
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress.
  • Administer and score formal and informal tests.
  • Implement behavioral management strategies following the intervention plan.
  • Organize and prepare instructional materials.
  • Recordkeeping for state and federal requirements as needed.
  • Attend training sessions to stay current with the program.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

Standard working environment; routine walking, standing, and use of computer equipment. No special physical demands beyond typical instructional support duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate degree or higher (AA) or PASSED ETS Para Pro Assessment with score 461 or greater.
  • Basic typing/keyboarding skills.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience working with students in academic areas.
  • Effective communication with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work with and supervise students.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, initiative, cooperativeness, and confidentiality.
  • Willingness to learn computer skills.
  • Operational ability with office equipment.

COMPENSATION

Hourly rate within the classification salary range. Experience credit may result in higher placement. Salary schedule available upon request.

WORK SCHEDULE

Weekdays 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (30‑minute unpaid lunch). 190 days per year (180 student days plus 10 holidays). Position contingent upon grant funding.

START DATE

August 24, 2026.
