Job Description

2026 - 2027 School Year, 1.0 FTE.

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 6/17/2026. This is a Long Term Sub Position.

Reports To: Building Principal

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Plan and implement a program of study following state and district standards that meet the individual needs and abilities of the students by providing effective, differentiated instruction using research‑based practices.
  • Implement instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for achieving stated objectives for instruction and student success, including use of technology.
  • Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other staff to plan, develop, and implement a course of instruction designed to meet the needs of students in all curriculum areas.
  • Educate special‑needs students within the regular classroom environment in collaboration with other staff.
  • Create a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to learning for all students.
  • Develop positive techniques for improving student behavior in cooperation with other staff.
  • Participate in state, federal and district testing requirements.
  • Provide positive supports and guidance to a diverse population.
  • Manage student behavior to provide a safe and optimal learning environment.
  • Assess students’ academic learning and/or skills and provide feedback to students, parents and administration regarding progress, expectations and goals.
  • Advise parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teaching expectations and improve classroom goals.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, confidential and timely records required by law, district policy and administrative regulations, including attendance, IEP information, progress reports, cumulative records, and classroom inventory.
  • Consult with colleagues, administrators, students or parents when necessary.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and parents to improve student performance, develop solutions and plan curriculum.
  • Enforce school rules, administrative regulations and board policy.
  • Demonstrate a professional and positive attitude in carrying out responsibilities as a faculty member.
  • Perform assigned out‑of‑classroom supervision and other duties.
  • Participate in staff meetings, planning events and grade‑level/department/PLC/job‑alike meetings.
  • Participate in total building program, including assemblies, contests and other student activities.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Successful completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and a valid Washington State teaching certificate with appropriate endorsement.
  • Successfully complete a Washington State Patrol background check (employee responsible for cost).
  • Flexibility, commitment to accomplishment, outstanding communication and conceptual skills, positive student relationships, strong professional orientation and willingness to actively participate in a team environment.
  • Regular, consistent attendance.
  • Willingness to uphold district policies and follow administrative procedures.
  • Knowledge of curriculum integration and commitment to improving instructional and management skills through professional development.
  • Willingness and ability to use a variety of research‑based effective instructional strategies, with an emphasis on reading, writing and mathematical skills.
