INTERVENTION PARA EDUCATOR

LOCATION: Legacy High School

This position will remain open until a qualified applicant is selected. The earliest date a recommendation for hire may be submitted is after 06/25/26.

This position is expected to begin August 24, 2026.

Employment Requirements

Must meet Para educator Employment Requirements as follows*:

  • Be at least eighteen (18) years of age and hold a high school diploma or its equivalent;
  • Must meet one or more of the following:
    • Have received a passing score of 455 or higher on the Education Testing Service Para Pro Assessment (ETS test/PRAXIS);
    • Hold an Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university;
    • Have earned 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher at an accredited college or university;
    • Have completed a Para educator Apprenticeship Program (program must be registered with the Washington State Apprenticeship and Training Council).

* If you do not meet the required qualifications listed above, your name will be screened out from the list of qualified candidates.

Upon hire, new para educators will be required to complete state‑required training offered through Evergreen School District.

Position Duration: Permanent

Salary Placement: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. Employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

Primary Duties

Under the supervision of the building Principal, the Intervention Para educator will assist in the delivery of instructional activities, working closely with students on an individual as well as a small group basis. They will collaborate with administrators, teachers and counselors in the delivery of a tutoring program to assist students in reaching and maintaining academic and behavioral success.

Essential Functions
  • Communicate effectively with students.
  • Assist in providing one‑to‑one and group instruction to students according to instructional goals.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a learning environment to accelerate academic and social‑emotional learning.
  • Utilize the principles and processes of student‑centered instruction in providing support for academic and social outcomes.
  • Utilize foundational academic and social‑emotional concepts to provide effective student support.
  • Maintain accurate data on student progress.
  • Assist in administering and scoring formal and informal tests.
  • Implement behavioral management strategies using the emphasis and techniques outlined by the instructor and intervention plan.
  • Assist in organizing and preparing a variety of instructional materials.
  • Assist in state/federal record‑keeping as necessary.
  • Attend various training sessions as necessary to maintain an up‑to‑date understanding of the program.
