Kittitas Secondary School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to lead our high school wrestling program as a full‑time head coach. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in wrestling, demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, and foster a positive and inclusive team environment. This role requires a commitment to developing student‑athletes both on and off the mat, promoting sportsmanship, and enhancing the overall athletic experience at Kittitas Secondary School.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive wrestling program that emphasizes skill development, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
  • Organize and conduct daily practices, ensuring effective training sessions that cater to the varying skill levels of student‑athletes.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise assistant coaches and support staff, fostering a collaborative coaching environment.
  • Plan and manage the wrestling schedule, including practices, competitions, and team events.
  • Monitor student‑athlete academic performance and provide support to ensure eligibility and success in their studies.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with student‑athletes, parents, and the school community.
  • Create and enforce team rules, policies, and procedures that align with school and district guidelines.
  • Collaborate with school administration and athletic department to promote the wrestling program and engage the community.
  • Organize fundraising activities to support the program and enhance resources available to student‑athletes.
  • Attend coaching clinics, workshops, and conferences to stay current with wrestling techniques, strategies, and best practices.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in coaching wrestling at the high school level or higher.
  • Strong knowledge of wrestling techniques, rules, and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student‑athletes.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and the community.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain.
  • Must pass a background check and meet all district requirements for coaching staff.
  • A commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all student‑athletes.
  • Coaching courses as needed (WIAA).
