This is a Continuing Position

• One-to-one tutoring in ELA and Reading
• Providing differentiation and accommodation to curriculum for at-risk students
• Credit Recovery
• Providing reading and/or ELA intervention to flexible groupings of students
• Identifying students with intervention needs within the school
• Training para educators who work in the Academic Center
• Providing training to student peers
• Connecting students with support and/or credit recovery options such as online curriculum
• Delivering intervention services in an inclusive manner within the classroom
• Attending required intervention professional development sessions and meetings
• Collaborating effectively with all school teams, community stakeholders and administrators
• Assisting in the screening process and placement of students in the Title I and/or LAP program
• Assisting with the instructional direction of para educators, if applicable
• Completing all program records on behalf of the school accurately and timely
• Initiating and supporting activities for parents and teachers of participating students
• Implementing and supporting the Title I and/or LAP programs within grant guidelines and under the direction of building administrators and the Federal Programs Department

• Valid Washington Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsements;
  Reading and English Language Arts endorsement preferred
• Demonstrated effectiveness in providing instruction in reading and English Language Arts, using a variety of instructional structures
• Demonstrated ability to assess students using a variety of methods and analyze results for intervention
• Minimum three years recent and successful classroom teaching experience, or three years recent and successful experience in providing intervention
• Preference for training and/or experience, or willingness to take coursework, in the knowledge and use of effective instructional and management strategies, including:

• Knowledge/awareness of own cultural identity and how this influences behavior, and desire to learn about the cultural identity of others
• Nurturing a positive school environment that celebrates, respects and values diversity, making teaching and learning relevant and meaningful to students of various cultures
• Initiating activities and discussions that increase staff cultural competence and inform and expand teaching practices within classrooms
• Modeling instructional leadership and demonstrating a strong commitment to equitable outcomes for all students
• Recognizing each person as a unique individual while celebrating group cultural heritage
• Establishing positive relationships with persons regardless of race, gender, physical limitation, sexual orientation or religious belief, with an active commitment to equal opportunity for all
• Building effective working relationships and interacting successfully with diverse instructional support services and administrative staff, including perceiving the needs and concerns of others; assisting others in resolving conflicts; motivating others; and designing programs to assist others in meeting organizational goals
