Job DescriptionWe are recruiting for two Special Education Job Coach/Paraeducators to serve our STEPS program in Longview, Washington. Positions are 33.5 hours per week on a school-year schedule.
Salary: $21.27–$26.31 per hour (offered at the beginning of the range). Regular attendance is required.
Essential Functions Special Education Job Coach- Assist the Special Education Teacher, per IEP goals and transition plans, to secure job placements; provide employability skills instruction; conduct student observations and assessments; and collaborate with worksite employees.
- Coach students on vocational and on-the-job skills to enhance readiness for employment.
- Analyze and modify job tasks to the student’s skill level.
- Supervise students during work experiences.
- Transport students to community work sites.
- Observe students, collect data, and report student progress.
- Maintain accurate data-collection records.
- Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
- Participate as a member of the education team; may attend parent conferences.
- Assist the Special Education Teacher, per IEP or IFSP goals, in lesson-plan preparation; one-on-one and small-group instruction; classroom management; student observation and assessment; and communication with parents and staff within various school settings.
- Supervise students.
- Collect data and report student progress.
- Maintain accurate data-collection records.
- Communicate with staff and parents as instructed by the Special Education Teacher.
- Provide positive behavior-management support consistent with the IEP or IFSP.
- Attend to the physical needs of students, including moving and positioning and assisting with personal hygiene needs.
- Participate in staff meetings, in-service programs, workshops and seminars.
- Participate as a member of the education team; may attend parent conferences.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Must meet one of the following educational requirements:
- Associate's Degree
- 48 semester/72 quarter credits from an accredited college or university
- Passing score of 455 on the Para Pro Assessment
- Passing score of 220 on the Pearson Paraprofessional Assessment
- 65% on The Master Teacher, Inc. Para educator Online Training Program
- Experience in a special education classroom setting.
- Knowledge of programs and services for students with disabilities.
- Classroom setting, may move from classroom to classroom to provide services.
- Provide assistance and attend to the physical needs of students, including moving, positioning and assisting with personal hygiene needs (tube feeding, catheterization, changing diapers, toileting).
- Sit, stand and stoop to attend to students’ needs and to provide instruction.
- Regular attendance during the assigned work schedule.
- Travel within the ESD 112 region for meetings and trainings.
- Hold a valid driver’s license.
