Salary Placement:
New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

Evergreen Public Schools (EPS) offers the following to eligible employees who work at least 630 hours in a school year:

Summary Statement:
The Child Nutrition Specialist is responsible for duties which require independent judgement and knowledge of guidelines, policies, and procedures associated with the district sponsored Federal Nutrition Programs having significant implications with District Food Services.

Essential Functions:

  • Process time sensitive State/Federal regulated meal benefit applications with highest accuracy, influencing state and federal nutrition and Title 1 funding, as well as other various grants. Application processing requires detailed research and understanding of program and system complexities.
  • Work closely with the public in person, by telephone, and written correspondence via email and letter.
  • Receive and efficiently handle continuous interruptions of phone calls, emails, and public visitors, and continuous shifting of priorities.
  • Stay current, comply, and communicate enforcement of complex USDA Nutrition programs and OSPI governance.
  • Strong ethical and secure handling of confidential child and family information as well as disclosure rules in accordance with the National School Lunch Act.
  • Main point of contact and overall customer support of nutrition services issues and inquiries for all internal district staff and student families, including, but not limited to food service account funds, State/Federal regulated meal applications, and parent concerns.
