Overview
Charter College, an established and growing career college with locations in Washington, Montana, New Mexico, Alaska, and Southern California, is expanding its Medical Assistant Program in Vancouver, WA. We are seeking talented, enthusiastic, and experienced part-time Medical Assistant instructors to teach in a blended course environment. The blended course environment combines face-to-face instruction with web-based technologies, providing flexibility for students while maintaining the value of in-person learning.
This position reports to the Program Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities- Participate in student retention efforts. Adjunct instructors remind students of missed assignments, encourage participation, promptly identify and assist at-risk students, and refer them for appropriate assistance.
- Prepare and provide all lecture, laboratory, and clinical instruction according to the required curriculum.
- Follow current course outlines, objectives, and evaluation mechanisms.
- Maintain a daily instructional lesson plan.
- Monitor student attendance and retention and document as required by the administration.
- Process course end grades according to policy.
- Grade assignments, return graded work to students, and assign final grades in a timely manner.
- Provide educational assistance to students during regularly scheduled times (office hours) or by appointment.
- Substitute in classes when necessary.
- Advise students regarding school policies and satisfactory performance; maintain communication with the Program Manager.
- Submit in writing current textbook, supply, and equipment needs to the Program Manager.
- Monitor equipment and supply inventory in locked facilities; secure consumable supplies and educational materials from the administrative office when needed.
- Maintain professional appearance and professional expertise to meet accreditation standards by attending educational seminars, reading current literature, and attending online courses.
- Ensure that students follow the catalog guidelines daily.
- Attend all scheduled mandatory meetings and serve on committees (e.g., curriculum development, retention) as assigned based on expertise or campus needs.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Current Certification as a Medical Assistant
- Two (2) years of experience in the field
- Excellent customer service skills
- Experience in a blended teaching environment is preferred but not required
- Part Time
- Pay per course taught: $1,250.00 per course, paid over 5 weeks
- Part-time adjunct position; day or evening classes (9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday or 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Monday–Thursday)
