  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for the assignment
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning;
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Successful teaching experience across all grade levels, preferred
  • Successful experience teaching across diverse populations, preferred
  • Willingness and desire to assist a teaching team in implementing an interdisciplinary instructional program
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques to maximize student learning
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative environment focused on improving student learning
  • Willingness and desire to collaborate with assigned Professional Learning Community, if requested
  • Cooperates as a professional team member, represents the best interests of the school, and accepts faculty responsibilities if requested
  • Sets an example for students in emotional stability, self‑control, courtesy, and appearance
  • Ability to work in a semi‑open or self‑contained classroom
  • Knowledge of, or experience with, a variety of teaching strategies, e.g., cooperative learning, integrated curriculum, whole language, etc.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and their parents who are culturally, racially, and linguistically diverse
  • Advanced ability to use technology as an effective communication, planning, and instructional tool
  • Willingness to participate in professional development courses aligned with school and district initiatives, if requested
Essential Functions
  • Teach assigned content with a high degree of skill, including a combination grade‑level classroom
  • Teach in an instructional program that meets students’ individual needs and makes necessary modifications
  • Integrate technology into learning
  • Work as an enthusiastic part of a learning‑centered environment believing that each student can learn
  • Work with an educational team, including directing para educators
  • Use the Professional Learning Community process to improve instruction, learning, and assessment, if requested
  • Maintain effective, positive classroom management
  • Provide a safe environment and handle discipline in a positive manner
  • Actively engage students in using technology in individual and collaborative learning activities
  • Work in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Treat co‑workers, supervisors, students, parents, and others with dignity and respect at all times
  • Serve as a positive role model for students and practice expected behaviors
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance and hours as set by the assigned building/location
  • Supervise students
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits/Compensation
  • Regular Rate: $28.00 hourly;
    Enhanced Rate: $30.95 hourly (Must work 25 full days in a semester and will receive enhanced rate the following semester)
  • Benefits: Employees anticipated to work at least 630 hours may be eligible for health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability insurance benefits. Detailed information can be found here.
  • Time Off: Includes sick leave accrual of 1 hour per 40 hours worked.

Such alternatives to the above requirements and desirable qualifications may be made as the district finds appropriate and acceptable.
