Job Description

Effective  school year. At-will employment. Posting period:
Open roster. Full Day - 7 hours;
Half Day - 4 hours. Fair Labor Standards Act Status:
Non-exempt.

Qualifications
  • Valid Washington State teaching certificate appropriate for the assignment
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning;
    Master’s degree preferred
  • Successful teaching experience across all grade levels (preferred)
  • Experience teaching diverse populations (preferred)
  • Willingness to assist a teaching team in implementing an interdisciplinary instructional program
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of teaching techniques to maximize student learning
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment focused on improving student learning
  • Willingness to collaborate with the assigned Professional Learning Community, if requested
  • Professional teamwork, represents the best interests of the school, and accepts faculty responsibilities if requested
  • Ability to model emotional stability, courtesy, and professional appearance
  • Ability to work in a semi-open or self-contained classroom
  • Knowledge of or experience with a variety of teaching strategies (e.g., cooperative learning, integrated curriculum, whole language)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work cooperatively with students and parents from diverse cultural, racial, and linguistic backgrounds
  • Advanced ability to use technology for communication, planning, and instruction
  • Willingness to participate in professional development aligned with school and district initiatives
Essential Functions
  • Teaches assigned content with a high level of skill, possibly across a combination of grade-level classrooms
  • Meets students’ individual needs at their instructional level and makes modifications as necessary
  • Integrates technology into learning
  • Engages students in a learning-centered environment and supports student learning
  • Works with an educational team, possibly directing para educators
  • Uses Professional Learning Community processes to improve instruction, learning, and assessment, if requested
  • Maintains effective, positive classroom management and a safe environment
  • Handles discipline in a positive manner
  • Engages students in using technology in individual and collaborative activities
  • Works in a flexible and cooperative manner
  • Treats colleagues, supervisors, students, and parents with dignity and respect
  • Serves as a positive role model for students
  • Maintains regular and punctual attendance and hours of operation as set by the assigned building/location
  • Supervision of students
  • Other duties as assigned

Benefits/Compensation:

  • Regular Rate: $28.00 (hourly);
    Enhanced Rate: $30.95 (hourly) (Must work 25 full days in a semester and will receive the enhanced rate the following semester).
  • Benefits: Employees who work at least 630 hours may be eligible for health, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, life, and disability insurance benefits.
  • Time Off: Sick leave accrual of 1 hour per 40 hours worked.

Such alternatives to the above requirements and desirable qualifications may be made as the district finds appropriate and acceptable.
