Position: Assistant Preschool Teacher (part-time)

Company Description Little Acorn Preschool is a preschool located in Vancouver, WA, serving children ages 2.5 to 6. The school offers an engaging, child-led curriculum that encourages exploration, creativity, and social development. Educators focus on nurturing each child’s unique interests while building foundational skills for future learning. Team members are supported in using developmentally appropriate practices that align with the school’s child-centered philosophy.

Role Description The Assistant Preschool Teacher is a part-time, on-site role based in Vancouver, WA. This position supports the lead teacher in implementing a child-led curriculum, guiding daily classroom activities, and fostering a positive, inclusive learning environment. Day-to-day tasks include helping set up and clean up, assisting with group and individual activities, supervising indoor and outdoor play, and supporting children with routines and transitions.

The role involves observing children’s developmental progress, reinforcing classroom expectations with empathy, and communicating with the teaching team about student needs. The Assistant Preschool Teacher also helps maintain a safe, organized classroom and participates in staff meetings and professional development as needed.

Qualifications

  • Strong Communication skills for interacting with children, colleagues, and families in a respectful and clear manner.
  • Experience or interest in working with children ages 2.5 to 6 in a classroom, childcare, or similar setting.
  • Ability to maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment, including effective supervision of indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Reliability and teamwork skills, with the ability to follow classroom routines and collaborate with lead teachers.
  • Preferred:
    Coursework or certification in Early Childhood Education, CPR/First Aid certification, and familiarity with child-led or play-based curricula.
