Rooted School Vancouver will be the fourth public school to open in the Rooted School network and the first in Washington state. Southwest Washington projects more than 1,600 job openings in IT and STEM every year without enough local talent to meet that growth. Rooted Vancouver seeks to change that by offering a broad range of Industry Based Credentials and work-based learning opportunities for students during high school.

After four years with us, students have a chance to earn a college acceptance in one hand and a job offer in the other.

As a Para educator for Student Success, you will play a crucial role in supporting all students to achieve their full potential. You will collaborate with a team of passionate educators, working closely with students and faculty to ensure that every student receives the support and resources they need to thrive.

Areas of Responsibility Include (but are not limited to):

As a founding member of Rooted’s School Team, the Para educator for Student Success will be responsible for the core set of duties listed below, and you will also need to have a “whatever it takes” approach to the work, wearing many hats and diving in to ensure the success of our scholars wherever needed.

You will be responsible for providing direct academic and behavioral support to special education and general education scholars in individual and small group settings.

  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other student accommodations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of behavioral and academic intervention plans.
  • Monitor scholar progress and provide regular updates to teachers and support staff.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay current with best practices in special education and general education.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and equitable learning environment for all scholars.
  • Assist in the facilitation of work-based learning opportunities and industry-based credentials for scholars.

Perform other duties as assigned, with a “whatever it takes” approach to ensuring the success of our scholars.

Qualifications:
  • A deep commitment to Rooted’s mission and values.
  • 2-3 years of work experience, preferably in a school setting.
  • Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively work with a diverse population.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.

A passion for restorative practices and a commitment to fostering a positive school culture.

Compensation:

Job Type: Full-time, 36 hours per week

Salary Range: $22 – $25 per hour, based on experience
