Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Vocational Para educator to join our team at Onalaska High School. The ideal candidate will support students in their vocational education, helping them develop essential skills for success in their future careers. This full-time position requires a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment and promoting student engagement in vocational programs.
Responsibilities- Assist teachers in implementing vocational education curriculum and lesson plans.
- Provide individualized support to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring they understand and can apply vocational concepts.
- Facilitate hands‑on learning experiences in various vocational subjects, including but not limited to, trades, technology, and business.
- Monitor student progress and participation, providing feedback to both students and educators.
- Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other staff to create supportive educational plans tailored to individual student goals.
- Help maintain a safe and organized learning environment, including managing tools and materials used in vocational training.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge relevant to vocational education.
- Support students in developing soft skills, such as communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving, essential for workplace success.
- Assist in the preparation of students for internships, job shadowing, and other career‑related experiences.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and activities as required by school policies.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in education, vocational training, or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with high school students, preferably in an educational or vocational setting.
- Strong understanding of vocational education programs and career readiness skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and collaborate with staff.
- Ability to adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Proficient in using technology and educational software relevant to vocational education.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain.
- Background check clearance as required by school district policies.
