190 days per year (180 student days / 10 holidays)

Salary Placement:
New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the classification salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service of similar occupational experience may receive experience credit towards salary step placement.

The bilingual student and parent support assistant will act as a connector and facilitator to support academic success and build positive home-school relationships. These responsibilities will fall under the supervision of the building principal.

Essential Functions:

  • Communicate effectively with the staff and general public in person, by telephone, via e-mail and in writing.
  • Participate in student support meetings and facilitate two-way communication during the meeting, as well as follow-up.
  • Assist with interpreting in parent conferences, when needed.
  • Assist with translating school specific documents, as needed.
  • Participate in, and collaborate with, parent engagement planning committees to represent perspectives, requests and needs of bilingual families.
  • Monitor and respond to messages on the phone message line, as needed, to support timely and responsive communication to bilingual families.
  • Encourage parent volunteerism in schools.
  • When needed, educate parents about available community resources.
  • Record and compile data, as needed, to demonstrate progress toward individual student and school goals.
