General Description of PositionThe R&D Lead Engineer is responsible for the design and/or development of new or modified products using the methods of technical research, project planning/resourcing, material screening, experimental design (DOE), simulation and product transition to create sustainable and profitable product lines. They act as a technical liaison providing troubleshooting and technical support for projects related to the development of new products, materials, and designs.
Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors. While we expect they exercise judgment within defined procedures of experiment, they also must be creative. This level engineer may be an expert in some specific areas. Must be able to work collaboratively with all other types of engineers and personnel.
- BS degree in engineering; advanced degree preferred
- Minimum 5+ years of related experience or its equivalent in education and experience
- Experience in the application of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures of particular field of specialization
- Familiarity with chemistry/materials science concepts to apply engineered solutions to process problems
- Familiar with customer/suppliers processes and thorough understanding of own process
- Troubleshooting aptitude on wide variety of lab equipment
- Ability to professionally present data, write project reports, and demonstrate high written and verbal communication skills
- Intermediate computer skills including Excel for data collection and graphical presentation of data
- Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and wear proper PPE
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced lab environment and meet deadlines
- Travel may be required up to 10%
