Job Description

AECOM is seeking a Mid-level Archaeology Technician (Archaeology Technician III) for immediate employment. This remote opportunity will report to our Cultural Resources team in Portland.

* This is a part-time, on-call position meaning workdays and times will be determined on an as-needed project basis.

Archaeological Technician's primarily performs fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator. Field projects will primarily be in Oregon and Washington State, and candidates should be in the Portland, OR and/or Vancouver, WA area. Candidates will need flexibility to travel overnight for field work sessions.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Conduct all aspects of archaeological field work, including survey, site recordation, site testing, monitoring, and data recovery. Must be familiar with standard archaeological techniques for all phases of archaeological investigations.

* Assist with documentation and mapping responsibilities in the field, including collection of GPS data.

* Assist with technical research and writing for reporting efforts.

* Analyze and document prehistoric and historic sites and artifacts.

* Works with the technical field, lab and office staff, managers and administrative staff to ensure that projects meet AECOM quality standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* High School graduate plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.

* Valid Driver's License with a good driving record, as travel will be required for this role.

* Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.

* 5+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.

* Completion of an archaeological field school is highly desired.

* Experience with Geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.

* Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
