Construction Inspector

Full time consultant position, 2+ years, based in Vancouver, WA. On site 5 days per week, up to 95% travel in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Northern California, and Western Wyoming.

Hourly pay rate between $33.06 and $45.09, inclusive of a health and welfare fringe benefit of $5.09.

Perform quality assurance inspection services on construction projects including high‑voltage transmission, substation, fiber optic, telecommunication, and non‑electric facility work. Projects may extend up to several months.

• Inspect construction activities to ensure compliance with OSHA  and relevant standards.
• Read and interpret contracts, construction drawings, and specifications.
• Use field equipment such as camera, telephone, VHF radio, and inspection tools.
• Apply safety standards, electrical principles, grounding principles, special precautionary techniques, and protective equipment.
• Conduct tasks specific to construction types: roads, grading, culverts, underground utilities, rock crushing, surveying, drainage, fiber optic cabling, substation grounding, switchyard surfacing, control & relay racks, backup generation, telecommunication infrastructure, and non‑electric construction components.
• Log and clear land, perform grubbing, and low impact logging in environmentally sensitive areas.

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Inspection technology preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of related work experience in construction inspection or site civil construction.
• Knowledge of OSHA  and related safety regulations.
• Familiarity with construction practices for transmission, substation, telecommunication, non‑electric facilities, and site civil engineering infrastructure.
• Valid U.S. driver's license or RealID required.
• Strong technical knowledge of engineering sciences, electrical systems, grounding, and load securement.

• Experience with pioneering roads, baselines, detailed topographic drawings, potholing, rock crushing, surveying, and drainage.
• Proficiency with fiber optic construction, substation grounding systems, cable installation, and equipment testing.
• Knowledge of CAD welding, bus work, and structural supports.
• Experience in emergency equipment testing, backup generators, and telecommunication systems.
• Experience in non‑electric commercial construction: foundations, framing, masonry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, fire suppression, security systems.
