The Marine Services Business Unit is seeking a Project Surveyor, Marine Services in Vancouver, WA to provide technical leadership and oversight for hydrographic and integrated mapping projects.
This role combines professional survey authority (PLS stamping), project leadership, technical expertise, and client engagement. The Project Surveyor will oversee survey deliverables, support field and office teams, and play a key role in maintaining quality standards across complex marine projects.
The position includes occasional travel to remote and offshore locations in support of hydrographic and geophysical survey operations.
What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities
: Technical Leadership & Oversight
- Serve as Project Surveyor of record, providing final review, stamping, and signing of hydrographic and integrated survey deliverables
- Oversee survey methodologies, geodetic control strategies, and data integrity across projects
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards (e.g., USACE, NOAA, state regulations)
- Lead and coordinate field and office survey staff, providing guidance and technical direction
- Collaborate with Project Managers to plan, execute, and deliver marine survey projects
- Review work products, monitor performance, and uphold quality standards across teams
- Oversee processing and integration of complex datasets, including:
- GNSS and inertial navigation data
- Multibeam and single beam sonar
- LiDAR and other remote sensing technologies
- Perform and review advanced survey computations, datum transformations, and terrain modeling
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through technical expertise and responsiveness
- Contribute to proposals, scopes of work, and project planning
- Support business development efforts within the Marine Services group
- Establish and enforce QA/QC procedures across all phases of survey operations
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness of deliverables
Required Qualifications
:
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in Washington and/or Oregon (or ability to obtain)
- 10+ years of progressive survey experience (field and office), including project oversight
- Demonstrated experience stamping and signing survey deliverables
- Proficiency with:
- AutoCAD Civil 3D
- ESRI ArcGIS Pro
- Trimble Business Center
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong expertise in GNSS and inertial data processing
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities with minimal supervision

- Experience with hydrographic and/or marine geophysical surveys
- Strong knowledge of geodesy, vertical datums, and datum transformations
- Familiarity with USACE hydrographic survey standards
- Experience with multibeam, LiDAR, and integrated marine datasets
