Senior Transportation Planner – On‑Call in Vancouver, Washington

How You’ll Contribute
  • Serve as project manager or task lead for transportation planning assignments.
  • Lead development of transportation system plans, corridor studies, active transportation plans, safety action plans, transit planning studies, and mobility strategies.
  • Conduct transportation analyses, including multimodal assessments, travel demand evaluations, and transportation impact studies.
  • Prepare technical memoranda, reports, presentations, and planning recommendations.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement efforts, including public meetings, workshops, agency coordination, and advisory committee meetings.
  • Support grant applications, funding strategies, and implementation planning.
  • Present findings and recommendations to agency staff, elected officials, and community stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide quality assurance/quality control review of project deliverables.
Strengths You Bring
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in community development, community planning, urban planning, or an associated discipline.
  • 15+ years of progressively responsible experience in land use planning for public and/or private sector clients.
  • 8+ years of project management experience with demonstrated ability to lead complex projects, manage budgets and schedules, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven track record of producing technically‑sound documents.
  • Knowledge of city and county comprehensive plans, zoning codes, development standards, and their implications on design.
  • Demonstrated expertise in preparing and/or reviewing detailed land use applications, including rezoning, conditional use permits, variances, and other complex entitlement processes.
  • Knowledge of Oregon Statewide Land Use Planning Goals and/or Washington Growth Management Act preferred.
  • AICP preferred.

Pay range: $65–$90 per hour
