Electronics Engineer 1 - Telecom
This contract Electronic Engineer assignment will work in the Telecommunications Engineering organization (TENP). The Telecommunications function provides engineering, design, and field support for BPA's telecommunication facilities and associated equipment. This includes fiber optics, analog/mobile radio, digital radio, power line carrier, operational telephone, microwave towers and antennas, emergency AC/DC power and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) systems, communications buildings, multiplex equipment, and monitoring systems including alarm system, Fault Locating Acquisition Reporter (FLAR), microwave monitor, wide area networks used for operational data and network management.
This assignment provides professional engineering expertise in assisting the project manager and other engineering personnel in implementing projects - supporting field maintenance crews and operations; and other related engineering activities. Organization TENP is a project engineering organization that leads and participates in cross-functional teams of engineers and subject matter experts to scope projects that have additions, modifications or upgrades to telecommunications systems.
This position will collaborate within the group and across other disciplines including mechanical, architectural, structural, and substation engineering during projects. Prioritizing a proactive approach to work assignments, clear communication, creative problem solving, and attention to detail are all highly encouraged. Most work is completed at a sitting/standing desk in an office environment with occasional visits to field sites. Work is accomplished both in teams and at an individual level and involves coordination with engineering personnel and project managers.
Bachelor's Degree in Electronic or Telecommunications Engineering or a directly related field (from an ABET accredited school) is required. Candidates 3 months from graduation will be considered. Proof of degree may be requested after graduation. Six months of experience in Telecommunications Engineering or closely related field is required. Must have knowledge of engineering concepts, principles and practices applicable to components and facilities found on a regional transmission system.
