Civil Engineering Technician 3 – Transmission Lines
This contract assignment will provide experienced, technical, organizational and design support to the Transmission Project Engineering Group (TELP) at the *** (BPA). Work associated with this assignment will be directly related to scope and design projects for transmission lines, fiber-optic cable, and wireless installations. Work also includes providing support for the system of naming and design documents and records associated with those facilities.
Specific areas of responsibility include new transmission lines and fiber optics line construction projects, transmission line upgrades, asset management support, maintenance support, customer service projects, modifications of existing transmission line and fiber optics line facilities, BPA's wireless program and direct support to its planning, engineering, and maintenance functions. In addition, leads the scoping and project planning for all transmission lines and fiber optics lines projects;
and participates on BPA's facilities naming committee. Additional services include emergency responses to transmission line or fiber optic line failures and the expertise to assist maintenance to get the transmission line or fiber optic line back in operation.
Assignment responsibilities include:

Compliance Reviews - Document Control and Database Management:
Process and Stage Engineering Records - Project Coordination, Support, and Training:
Coordinate Post-Construction
Education & Corresponding Experience (required on matrix): A degree in engineering, mathematics, computer science, or a closely related field is preferred. With a Bachelor's degree in an applicable field, 6 years of experience is required. With an Associate's degree in an applicable field, 8 years of experience is required. Without an applicable degree, 10 years of experience is required. Experience must include specific engineering technician experience and demonstrate a wide range of project tasks, as well as exercising a comprehensive degree of creativity and latitude, with increased accountability for results and level of difficulty of tasks.
Required Technical Skills & Experience (required on matrix): 5+ years' experience in Micro Station CAD platform or similar program and associated add-on products. 5+ years' experience maintaining Project Wise or similar document management software.
Additional Requirements (not required on matrix):
Valid U.S. Driver's License is required. First Aid/AED/CPR Certification required within 30 days of assignment start. Worker/Employer is responsible for maintaining current certification.
PPE Requirements:
White Hard Hat Eye Protection Footwear: ASTM F 2413-11 with an EH Rating or ASTM F2413-18 with an I/C/EH Rating. Footwear must lace up over the ankle and have a rigid sole and heel. The exterior of the boot must be made entirely of natural materials (all leather or leather and rubber combination) to conform to Arc-Flash requirements. Electrical and Arc-Flash protective clothing and PPE as required by OSHA and consistent with BPA Safety and Health Policy for work on or near an energized facility.
