Here’s

What You’ll Do:
  • Assist adults with developmental disabilities in their daily lives, including dietary, hygiene, grooming, and dressing needs, and redirect behaviors with various activities as needed.
Performance Expectations and Responsibilities:
  • Provide support to program participants that meets their needs, and provide opportunities for community integration in a nurturing, safe, and healthful living environment.
  • Be familiar with the Residential Service Guidelines issued by the Developmental Disabilities Administration.
  • Provide each participant with an array of instruction and support services, as described in the participant’s Individual Instruction and Support Plan (IISP).
  • Ensure that the daily needs of the participants are met, including personal hygiene, food preparation, house cleaning, shopping, and monitoring of health needs, including supervision of medication.
  • Assist participants with regularly accessing the community to take part in a variety of outings of the participants’ choosing; this may require transporting participants or arranging for transportation.
  • Ensure that participants are always treated with dignity and consideration, and promote and safeguard each participant’s ability to make decisions and freely exercise his or her rights.
  • Interact with participants, provide informal counseling, and problem‑solve with participants.
  • Attend staff meetings as required by the House Manager or the Site Supervisor and/or Administrator.
  • Attend training required by the agency, DDA, and other parties.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of the IISP for each participant with whom they work.
  • Become Nurse Assistant Registered (NAR). Must enroll in and complete the Nurse Delegation study course and take the test within 30 days of employment.
  • Provide necessary support and supervision of participants.
  • Maintain professional working relationships with other service providers, the participants’ parents/relatives/guardians, and other agency staff; responsible for timely completion of all documentation, including medication logs, shift notes, progress notes, data sheets, incident reports, and client financial records.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the House Manager, Site Supervisor, and/or Administrator.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and car employees must be willing to transport clients in their own vehicle.
Experience:
  • Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
  • Minimum experience:

    personal experience supporting individuals with developmental disabilities with challenging behaviors strongly preferred.
  • Minimum driving experience: must have a valid in‑state driver’s license and be able to provide current car insurance.
Language

Skills:

Must have the ability to read, write and understand documents in English.
