This full-time contract Data Analyst 3 assignment is in Transmission Services’ Transmission Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) Settlements (TSRE) group, a part of the Transmission Commercial System Management (TSR) department of Transmission Marketing and Sales (TS) organization. This assignment will support TSRE Settlement and Market Analysis activities by documenting and producing Business Analytics solutions that support CAISO and day ahead Market Analysis.

This assignment will work with TSRE, TORI, PTMA and business partners to understand business needs, document requirements, and design data models.

TSRE performs back office functions in support of Transmissions participation in CAISO Energy Imbalance Market (EIM) as an Entity Scheduling Coordinator (EESC). We support by executing settlement functions required for EIM participation, processing CAISO invoices, and performing necessary reporting and data analytics. We support our customers by validating the EIM charges and credits they are allocated and performing the dispute resolution process with CAISO on their behalf.

TSRE staff work closely together in the production of these analyses to ensure data from software services is proper and accurate before issuing information to billing for processing. Data analytics can be used to provide business modeling efficiencies as needed.

• Provide data analysis for quality assurance testing efforts related to the company Settlements data.
• Provide data analysis to support settlements daily, weekly and monthly calculations.
• Document data flow diagrams, entity relationship diagrams and other project deliverables.
• Provide PL/SQL databases (queries, functions, stored procedures)
• Coordinate with TSRE, TORI, PTMA, and other organizational partners including consultants.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of higher-level activities of wholesale electric transmission customers in the western states as context for the goals of market, consumer, and business analysis.
• Develop a working familiarity with essential databases that support Transmission product analyses including OASIS reservations system, scheduling and other transmission operations data, generation sources, curtailments data, generation interconnection information, customer oriented data, etc.
• With appropriate data analytic modeling, develop databases that enable analyses of power markets and Transmission products and services.
• Translate data quality and architecture issues to both technical and non-technical teams.
• Work with business partners to understand business needs, design data models and develop specifications for analytical reports and data visualizations.
• Develop and design functional and technical requirements for Business Analytics projects.
• Perform logical data modeling and physical data modeling.
• Conduct data modeling sessions with business users and technical staff, which include conveying complex ideas both verbally and in written form.

• A degree in Information Technology, Business Systems, Computer Technology or a closely-related technical field such as Data Analytics is preferred.
• With an applicable Bachelor’s degree, 6 yrs of experience is required.
• With an applicable Associates degree, 8 years of experience is required.
• Without an applicable degree, 10 years of experience is required.
• Experience must include direct work experience in Information Technology performing Data Analysis.

• 5 years of application of skills to analyses of markets, business analyses, and consumer products and services analyses Knowledge of Data Warehousing techniques, terminology, implementation and ETL (Extract, Transform & Load).
• 5+ years of statistical analysis or data analysis experience.
• 2+ years of data analytics applied to analyses of markets, business to business products and services, and consumer products and services.
• Demonstrated experience designing physical and logical data models. Prefer experience using the Erwin Data Modeling tool.
• Experience using enterprise data modeling tools.
• Experience should include relational and dimensional modeling.
• Experience with identification and evaluation of data quality issues.
