Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Backup Service lead responsible for designing, implementing, and managing enterprise backup, recovery, and infrastructure environments. This role ensures data protection, system reliability, and high availability across on-premises and cloud platforms, with a strong focus on Cohesity backup solutions, Linux/Windows systems, enterprise databases, and Azure cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise backup solutions using Cohesity Data Protect.
  • Configure and maintain backup policies, retention strategies, replication, and archival.
  • Strong understanding of Cohesity Cluster Architecture (SpanFS, Nodes, Storage Layer).
  • Experience with SpanFS distributed file system, including replication and erasure coding.
  • Knowledge of Cohesity Data Platform services and microservices architecture.
  • Perform backup monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
  • Execute backup validation and restore testing (DR drills).
  • Integrate Cohesity with Azure cloud archival.
  • Ensure compliance with RPO/RTO requirements and organizational data policies.
  • Implement immutability, ransomware protection, and data security best practices.
  • Administer and support backup agents on Linux (RHEL) and Windows Servers.
  • Experience on replication & de-replication of data.
  • Perform system-level troubleshooting related to backup failures.
  • Software/firmware Upgrade.
  • Performing data copy utilizing hardware-based data mirroring or snap technology, such as Net App’s Snap Vault, snapshots, or other comparable technology.
  • Maintain backup job streams and scripts, including indicating file usages, job dependencies/priorities, and program options available.
  • Diagnose backup failures, performance bottlenecks, and node issues.
  • Design and implement DR strategies and failover mechanisms.
  • Ensure data encryption, access control, and compliance (ISO, GDPR, etc.).

Required Skills

  • Well versed in ITIL process (Incident, Problem, Change management).
  • Strong hands-on experience with Cohesity backup solutions.
  • Expertise in Linux and Windows server administration.
  • Experience with enterprise databases: SQL Server/Oracle.
  • Strong knowledge of backup/recovery concepts and DR planning.
  • Hands-on experience on Azure cloud platforms.
  • Understanding of storage technologies (SAN/NAS, snapshots, replication).
  • Data replication to security vault (Cyber Ark).

Preferred Skills

  • Fluent communication skills - verbal and written.
  • Ability to maintain calm and lead/direct teams during crises/disaster-like situations.
  • Knowledge of Azure cloud storage is a plus.
  • Ability to work with technical experts across varied technologies and promote teamwork.
  • Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, ARM templates).

The pay range for this role is $100,000 - $110,000 per annum including any bonuses or variable pay.
