Position: Inventory Management Specialist.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Project Materials: manage the entire material lifecycle for construction and maintenance projects, ensuring the right parts arrive at the right place and time to prevent work stoppages.
  • Support Construction Teams: directly support construction crews by planning, acquiring, and delivering all necessary government‑provided materials, equipment, and on‑site services.
  • Act as a Central Liaison: serve as the main point of contact between project managers, engineers, vendors, and warehouse staff to track shipments, resolve shortages, and communicate any material‑related issues.
  • Process Material Requests: help colleagues and field workers draft and approve material requests, assist in creating new catalog items for non‑standard materials, and ensure requests are accurate.
  • Manage Equipment Tracking and Reporting: be the expert for issuing and managing System Equipment Record (SER) tags, and track and report on materials that are wasted, lost, or damaged during projects.
  • Handle Financial and Administrative Tasks: perform administrative duties such as preparing annual state tax‑use reports and reallocating costs and materials between different work orders to ensure proper budget accounting.
Requirements

Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirements:

GS‑09

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS‑07, in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
1) coordinating material deliveries for projects by communicating with warehouse staff, suppliers, or project team members;
2) using an inventory or supply management system to enter material requests, check the status of orders, or update inventory records; and
3) assisting with project supply needs by reviewing material lists to ensure accuracy, communicating potential shortages, and tracking how materials are used.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Master's or equivalent graduate degree; or two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a LL.B. or J.D. if related. Your education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work. Or, combination of education and experience as described above. Less than one year of specialized experience may be combined with graduate education in excess of the amount required for the next lower grade level.

GS‑11

A qualified candidate's online application and resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, GS‑09, in the Federal service. Specialized experience for this position is defined as:
1) tracking materials for projects and working with suppliers and project staff to ensure items arrive on time;
2) using a supply system or inventory software to order materials, track their status, or manage inventory data; and
3) assisting with construction or maintenance projects by reviewing material lists to identify needs, tracking material usage, and processing returns for unused items.

You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows:
Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; or three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree; or a LL.M., if related.…
