Director, North America Strategy

Position Overview:

As part of Mars Veterinary Health, the Director of North America Strategy will shape and advance the strategic direction of the organization in North America. The role partners closely with the Vice President and senior leadership, serving as a strategic advisor and driving clarity across a complex multi-site healthcare organization.

Responsibilities Strategy Development & Enterprise Planning
  • Support development of North America strategic priorities, long-range planning and enterprise growth initiatives.
  • Translate strategic direction into actionable roadmaps, operating implications and measurable outcomes.
  • Develop executive-ready strategy materials, updates and narratives for the Petcare Leadership Team and other governance forums.
Strategic Analysis & Decision Support
  • Frame key strategic questions and structure complex problems to inform executive decision-making.
  • Drive strategic evaluations of growth opportunities, investments, partnerships and business models.
  • Develop data-driven insights and recommendations that inform enterprise-level decisions.
Market, Competitive & Business Insights
  • Assess market trends, competitors, consumer behavior and emerging industry developments to inform strategy.
  • Synthesize internal and external data into clear actionable strategic insights.
  • Monitor developments across veterinary healthcare, petcare, healthcare services and adjacent sectors.
Executive Partnership & Influence
  • Partner with senior leaders across operations, medical, finance and technology to shape strategic priorities.
  • Act as a strategic advisor, bringing structured thinking and an independent perspective to leadership discussions.
  • Influence cross-functional stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment to drive alignment and progress.
Planning Rigor & Strategic Execution
  • Drive consistency and rigor in strategic planning processes and business performance discussions.
  • Support translation of strategic priorities into actionable plans in partnership with business leaders.
  • Identify key risks, trade-offs and dependencies to inform decision-making and prioritization.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
  • 8-10+ years of experience in strategy consulting, corporate strategy, or an equivalent strategic/analytical leadership role.
  • Experience supporting senior executives and contributing to enterprise-level strategic decisions in large complex organizations.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including experience evaluating growth opportunities, investments and trade-offs.
  • Proven ability to structure ambiguous, complex problems and develop data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities with a comfort navigating ambiguity.
  • Exceptional executive communication and storytelling skills.
  • Proven ability to influence senior, cross-functional stakeholders without direct authority.
  • High degree of ownership, judgment and business acumen.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
