Kyocera International, Inc. is hiring a Machinist at our Vancouver, WA facility. The role offers a $2000 retention bonus.

Pay and Schedule

Pay Range: $22 – $34 per hour (actual base pay based on experience, education, market, qualifications, and skills).

Shift: Weekend Night.

General Description of Position

The Machinist sets up and operates a wide variety of industrial machines such as CNC mills, CNC lathes, vertical machining centers and surface grinders to machine ceramic parts. Machinists run 1–4 machines simultaneously and understand all aspects of set up and precision measuring. Machinists may train other operators and machinists.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Set up and observe CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions and adjust machine controls or indicators as required.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on parts.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to maintain .0005 tolerances.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
  • Document all instances of scrapped parts or machine issues using proper forms and pass down reports.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and complete autonomous First Article Inspection reports.
  • Operate precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers and depth gauges to conduct GDT quality checks.
  • Report machine failures, non‑conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns and maintenance requests immediately.
  • Participate in P5S initiatives; keep machinery clean and machine area clear of debris.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and record activities.
  • Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices and train others on departmental safety procedures.
  • Cross‑train on multiple machine types including 3‑ and 5‑axis CNC machines and diamond tooling.
  • Work on prototype parts and new specifications with limited instructions or established procedures and write, test, edit and troubleshoot programs as assigned.
  • Communicate and interact effectively with production management, engineers and quality team to make departmental improvements and offer innovative suggestions.
  • Qualifications
    • High school diploma or GED required.
    • 3–6 years CNC experience or equivalent on‑the‑job training, including completion of a 2‑year Machine Technology certificate.
    • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
    • Mathematical proficiency (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and using units of measure).
    • Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD&T.
    • Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
    • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and stand or walk for extended periods.
    • Ability to mentor, train or lead other operators and machinists.
    • Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
    • Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.
    Physical Activities

    Continuously lift and feel, reach with hands and arms; regularly stand, walk; occasionally sit, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 25 pounds regularly.

    Environmental Conditions

    Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles. Noise level usually moderate.
