$2000 Retention Bonus Kyocera International, Inc. is hiring a Machinist at our Vancouver, WA facility. Pay Range - $22 - $34 per hour (Actual base pay based on factors such as relevant experience, education, market, qualifications, and skills). Shift: Weekday Swing.

General Description Of PositionThe Machinist sets up and operates a wide variety of industrial machines which may include CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders to machine ceramic parts. Machinists are expected to run 1-4 machines simultaneously and understand all aspects of setup and precision measuring. They may also train other operators and machinists.
Requirements- High school diploma or GED required.
- 3-6 years CNC experience or on-the-job training to include completion of 2-year Machine Technology certificate.
- Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure including decimal fractions.
- Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD&T.
- Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Ability to mentor, train or lead other Operators and machinists.
- Must pass criminal background check and drug screen.
- Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.
- Set up and observe CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or indicators as required. Includes tool offset adjustments using controllers (Haas, Fanuc, Okuma, etc.).
- Measure, mark, and/or scribe dimensions and reference points on parts. Review technique cards and customer-specific work orders for changes.
- Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to maintain 0.0005 tolerances.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut, or enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit machine controls. Use proper procedures for editing codes or machine applications.
- Document all instances of scrapped parts or machine issues; communicate effectively with peers on and off shift to ensure continuous machine utilization.
- Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications and complete First Article Inspection reports. Read prints and inspect parts for conformance in accordance with ISO 9001. May troubleshoot and review work of other machinists.
- Trained on CMM and/or optical comparator. Use precision measuring tools to ensure geometric dimensioning and tolerancing quality checks. May measure parts for operators or less experienced team members.
- Report machine failures, non-conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns and maintenance requests immediately.
- Participate in P5S initiatives; keep machinery and work area clean and free of debris. Address spills, gauges, and sensors immediately.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and record findings (e.g., oil, coolant levels).
- Adhere to all safety programs including PPE and safe operating practices. Model and train others on safety procedures and directives.
- Cross-trained on multiple machine types including 3- and 5-axis CNC machines and diamond tooling. Calculate complex dimensions to meet tolerances and apply G and M codes and GD&T; troubleshoot and complete minor machine repairs.
- Work on prototype parts and new specifications with limited instructions; write, test, edit and troubleshoot programs as assigned.
- Communicate with production management, engineers, and quality team to drive improvements and suggest innovations.
