Overview
PARR is the total source for homebuilding supplies, solutions, and services. We focus on supplying building materials to professional home builders of all sizes, including custom builders, large production builders, and multifamily builders. This position is a Material Return Specialist.
Job InformationTitle: Material Return Specialist
Pay: $22.14 – $26.62 per hour, depending on experience
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 6:00a.m. – 2:30p.m.
Location: Vancouver, Washington
- Safely and efficiently receive re‑sellable materials back into yard inventory.
- Ensure all material returns are received properly and within 5 business days from pickup to process.
- Work with the Receiving Coordinator, Yard Supervisor, Load Builders, Customer Service, Truck Drivers, and vendor delivery drivers.
- Stage incoming material returns with appropriate recognition tags.
- Address special order or non‑stock items immediately with the Receiving Coordinator or Yard Supervisor and tag for vendor return.
- Maintain a neat, organized material return transition location and perform daily safety audits of forklift and equipment.
- Use forklift, banding machine, tin snips, tape measure, power saws, hand truck, pallet jack, refueling stations, and other equipment as required.
- Check all paperwork for accuracy and ensure returns match Master Return Forms (MRF) and POs.
- Detect and resolve inventory count discrepancies, and update Falcon system and SKU information.
- Operate forklift according to company safety standards and perform daily lift inspections.
- Protect workplace safety by using proper lifting techniques, wearing high‑visibility uniform, and following all company protocols.
- Assist in maintaining a clean work environment, removing unreadable labels, and ensuring proper labeling of all specials/vendor returns.
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Load building and/or customer service experience preferred.
- OSHA‑certified forklift license (training provided).
- Ability to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to measure lineal footage totals on returns and differentiate between resalable and cull material.
- Knowledge of receiving and inventory control principles.
- Two years of experience with dimension lumber and panel products preferred.
- Acceptable driving record preferred.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
- Lift/push/pull up to 90lb and carry up to 50ft.
- Stooped, bend, and walk outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Utilize appropriate safety equipment.
- Paid time off: 2 weeks vacation on day1, increases to 4 weeks after 5 years.
