This position is primarily fitting, but welding experience is necessary. Previous experience as a fitter will be prioritized. This position is available for swing shift: 3:00PM-1:30AM Mon-Thur, with optional overtime opportunities.
Competitive wages start ranging between $36.98 and $41.94 an hour. This includes a swing shift differential of $1.00 an hour and $1.00 leadman pay.

Position Description
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Fabrication Leadman to join our team. This is a working leadership role for a highly skilled fabricator who can provide day-to-day direction, coordination, and support to a fabrication crew while actively performing fabrication work.
The ideal candidate will lead by example, maintain high standards of safety and quality, communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, and help ensure projects stay on schedule and meet customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced fabrication work including layout, fit-up, fit checks, welding, and assembly.
- Lead and coordinate daily activities for crews ranging from 2-15 employees.
- Assign tasks and prioritize workflow to support production goals.
- Identify material, equipment, and staffing needs and communicate them proactively.
- Train, mentor, and support crew members to improve skills and productivity.
- Ensure work areas remain organized, safe, and efficient.
- Serve as the primary communication link between the Mechanic and fabrication crew.
- Monitor workmanship and quality standards and escalate concerns when necessary.
- Enforce company safety policies and immediately address unsafe conditions or behaviors.
- Coordinate crane operations, rigging activities, lifts, and material handling.
- Prepare upcoming workstations and support smooth shift transitions.
- Maintain required documentation, including MTNs, welder IDs, and Job Control Documents (JCDs).
- Conduct daily pre-work safety and planning meetings.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 5 years of heavy fabrication experience.
- Ability to meet all requirements of a Fabricator I classification or higher.
- Strong blueprint reading and interpretation skills.
- Proficiency in measuring, layout work, structural fit-up, and fabrication processes.
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to lead crews effectively without formal supervisory authority.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
- Previous experience within a structural steel fabrication environment.
- Prior Leadman or crew leadership experience.
Must be trained and authorized (or able to obtain authorization) in:
- Forklift operation
- Scissor lifts
- Boom lifts
- Rigging
- Overhead crane operation
This position works primarily in a structural steel fabrication shop environment and is regularly exposed to:
- Welding, grinding, and cutting operations
- Heat, noise, and heavy machinery
- Material handling and lifting activities
- Climbing, bending, kneeling, and working in confined spaces or at heights
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
