Shipyard Production Supervisor / Control Account Manager (CAM) – Compartment Closeout

The CAM is responsible for end‑to‑end ownership of assigned compartments, ensuring execution, sequencing, and closeout readiness align with vessel construction milestones. This role operates directly on the deck plate, integrating production, subcontractors, and schedule requirements to maintain real‑time visibility of work progress and forward plan alignment. The CAM is accountable for ensuring compartments progress from active construction through final closeout without creating downstream rework, access issues, or schedule disruption.

This is an execution‑first role requiring strong production awareness, schedule discipline, and the ability to drive accountability across multiple stakeholders in an active shipyard environment.

Responsibilities
  • Control Account Ownership (Scope, Schedule, Execution)
    • Own assigned compartments as defined scope within the production Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
    • Maintain accountability for execution progress, milestone alignment, and completion status
    • Track work against planned production targets and identify variances early
    • Provide accurate, real‑time status of work completed, in‑progress, and remaining
    • Identify risks, constraints, and sequencing conflicts impacting execution
  • Production Integration & Execution Management
    • Coordinate daily with shipyard trades, subcontractors, and supervision to drive work completion
    • Ensure production activities align with planned sequencing and installation logic
    • Monitor installation progress across structural, mechanical, electrical, and outfitting scopes
    • Identify and resolve production inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and out‑of‑sequence work
    • Establish and reinforce clear expectations across production teams
  • Schedule & Milestone Alignment
    • Maintain compartment status within production tracking systems
    • Align execution progress with program milestones (e.g., major system installs, structural completions)
    • Validate milestone achievability based on actual field conditions
    • Support schedule accuracy by providing real‑time production updates to planning teams
  • Status Tracking & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date status of compartment completion
    • Track current progress, prior accomplishments, and remaining scope
    • Communicate status clearly to leadership, including risks and recovery actions
    • Ensure reporting reflects actual field conditions—not assumptions
  • Compartment Closeout Readiness & Sequencing Control
    • Ensure compartments progress toward closeout in the correct sequence
    • Prevent premature closure of compartments with incomplete work or open deficiencies
    • Verify required work is complete prior to insulation, decking, or structural closure
    • Coordinate completion of all trades to support clean, compliant closeout
  • Production Process Improvement
    • Identify gaps in coordination, communication, and execution workflows
    • Improve alignment between subcontractors, trades, and shipyard supervision
    • Establish repeatable processes that improve efficiency across compartments and future vessels
    • Drive continuous improvement in production execution and reporting
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to access and inspect all areas of machinery.
Required Knowledge & Skills
  • Shipyard Production Knowledge
    • Understanding of shipyard construction sequencing and compartment‑based execution
    • Familiarity with structural, piping, HVAC, electrical, and outfitting installation practices
    • Ability to interpret drawings, work packages, and production plans
  • Scheduling & Execution Awareness
    • Experience working with production schedules and milestone tracking
