Position: Machinist 3 - Swing Shift

Kyocera International, Inc. is hiring a Machinist at our Vancouver, WA facility.

Pay Range – $25 - $34 per hour (Base pay based on experience, education, market, qualifications, and skills).

Shift

Multiple available, premiums for 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekends.

General Description Of Position

The Machinist sets up and operates a variety of industrial machines—CNC Mills, CNC Lathes, Vertical Machining Centers, and surface grinders—to machine ceramic parts. They run 1‑3 machines simultaneously, ensuring precise set‑up, machining, and measurement.

Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Machine Technology certificate preferred.
  • 1+ years advanced 3‑axis CNC machining experience, including on‑the‑job training.
  • Ability to read and comprehend verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide all units of measure, including common and decimal fractions.
  • Read mechanical drawings/blueprints including GD&T.
  • Vision and depth perception suitable for use of inspection microscopes.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to mentor, train, or lead other operators.
  • Must pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
  • Eligible to work in an ITAR environment.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Set up and observe CNC machine operation to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining; adjust machine controls or indicators as required, including tool offset adjustments using various controllers (Haas, Fanuc, Okuma, etc.).
  • Measure, mark, and/or scribe dimensions and reference points on parts; review technique cards and customer‑specific work orders for changes.
  • Select, align, and secure holding fixtures, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines to maintain .0005 tolerances.
  • Calculate and set controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth/angle of cut; enter commands to retrieve, input, or edit computerized machine controls.
  • Document all instances of scrapped parts or machine issues, utilizing proper forms and pass‑down reports; communicate effectively with peers on and off shift to ensure continuous machine utilization.
  • Verify conformance of finished work pieces to specifications; complete independent First Article Inspection reports; read prints and inspect parts in accordance with ISO 9001.
  • May be trained on CMM or optical comparator; routinely work with precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and depth gauges to ensure GDT quality checks.
  • Report machine failures, non‑conformance, spills, accidents, EHS concerns, and maintenance requests immediately.
  • Participate in P5S initiatives; keep machinery and machine area clear of debris; address spills, gauges, and sensors promptly.
  • Perform basic preventative maintenance on machines daily and record
  • Adhere to all safety programs, including PPE and safe operating practices.

Physical Activities

The employee is continuously required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; regularly required to stand, walk; occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds, regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and up to 25 pounds.

Environmental Conditions

The employee is occasionally exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate.
